Starting a project
A short guide to preparing your project. Organise the goal, scope and materials before we move on to design.
Read the guide
Start with a goal you can describe.

You don't need a finished technical specification. It is enough to know who you help and what a visitor should do after arriving on the site.
Describe the audience and the task
Write down who your offer is for. Choose the main goal: getting in touch, learning about a service or booking a call. Also note the questions customers ask before they decide.
Gather the scope and materials
Prepare a list of pages, your logo, copy and photos you have the rights to. Mark the elements that still need work and the features required for the first launch.
Agree on how we will work together
Choose one person on your side to collect feedback. Set an approximate deadline and budget, and decide who will update the content after launch.
Your brief for the first call
Tick the elements you have ready. You can copy the list to your notes and complete it before getting in touch.
Write down your priorities
Choose what the website should make easier for your customers.
Gather the materials
Put your logo, copy and photos in one folder.
Discuss the scope
Share the brief and mark the questions that need a joint decision.
Questions and answers
Do I need all the copy at the start?ExpandCollapse
No, but it is worth defining its scope and who is responsible for preparing it. We include missing materials in the project schedule.
What should I send in the first message?ExpandCollapse
Write a few sentences about your business, the main goal of the website and the features you need. You can also point to your current site and examples you like.
How do I choose a plan for my project?ExpandCollapse
Compare the number of pages, the number of people who will edit content and how often you plan updates. If your scope is unusual, describe it in the contact form.
